Machine translation is a translation technology based on algorithms which generate translations without human intervention by employing a language model. Currently, the dominant system is statistical machine translation, which is based on the translation of words or phrases based on probabilities obtained after the processing of parallel linguistic corpora. However, this approach is being slowly replaced by neural machine translation, based on artificial intelligence techniques. In both cases, the availability of linguistic resources such as parallel corpora (e.g. translation memories) is fundamental in obtaining the optimum configuration of these systems. High quality machine translation allows the translation service to be accelerated and reduces costs.
